Zach Giggs' bid for Sheffield United may not work out due to the club's transfer ban.

Zac Giggs, the son of Manchester United legend Ryan, may have his hopes of a professional contract with United on the wane after a trial with Championship club Sheffield United.

According to The Mirror, Giggs Jr has been part of United’s youth set-up since 2019 but has set his sights elsewhere.

At the age of 16, Zach seeks proof of his future in the game.

He had been part of United’s youth set-up since the age of twelve and hoped to follow in his father’s famous footsteps at Old Trafford.

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbotham confirmed the news of Zach’s trial but said he would not be the one to decide his future.

“I don’t have anything to say about him but I know he’s in (Gigs). Dale (Derek Geary, academy manager) will have to make a decision on that,” he said.

Despite his attempts, getting to Bramall Lane is not as easy as it seems. The Blades are currently under a transfer ban imposed by the EFL for failing to meet payments on player purchases.

That ban extends to academy level, meaning Giggs cannot put pen to paper on any professional contract.

This leaves Zach stumped but could mean he has another shot at achieving his dream at Old Trafford.

His father, Ryan, is United’s most decorated player, having spent his entire career at the club.

Giggs played 963 games and scored 168 goals over three decades.

It was an incredible period of success for the club, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles and numerous domestic and European trophies.
