Who is online? Hanging(Opens in a new tab) It’s the slightly more serious sibling of Tinder and Bumble, without being as serious as Match. It’s known as a go-to for people who are constantly open to something long-term, but willing to see where a match takes them. The app has more gender options and collection. LGBTQ specific questions(Opens in a new tab)so it’s not just for straight, bi/cisgender people.
How it works: Hinge profile consists of six photos/videos and three questions and basic personal information like age, height, location, education, occupation, drinking habits, etc.
You’ll see one potential match at a time on your Discover page and you can like or respond to any of their questions or photos – tap the heart in the bottom corner and it’ll give you the option to type something or leave it as is. In your “Likes” section, you’ll see all the people who liked or responded to something on your profile, and you have the option to respond, start the conversation, or forward.
The free version of Hinge lets you see one at a time and you have to make a decision on them to see the next one. Selected members can view all their matches at once and choose who they want to respond to first. Free users get eight likes per day, while Premium members can send as many likes as they want.
Login Features: The app is fast-paced, so introverts will have a jumping-off point to start a conversation. The prompts allow you to show some of your personality that might not come naturally if you were more reserved. Voiceovers are a particularly fun way to put your personality across without feeling like you’re putting yourself out there. Since you only see who likes you once and you’re limited to multiple likes per day (in the free version), you won’t be pressured into every insider’s fantasy and chat with 10 different people at once.
If you’re not interested in meeting in person right away but still want to go on dates, Hinge also has built-in video dating.
What will it cost you: The basic version is completely free and very extensive. You can use the app for a long time without paying a penny – you just need to filter matches one by one. If you like the freedom to browse, you might want to upgrade. Preferred members also have their profiles viewed more, so it might be worth it if you’re really looking for a relationship. One month’s premium is $34.99, three months is $64.99, and six months is $99.99.
