Samir Nasri says Arsenal's 2009 UCL semi-final defeat to Man United

Former Arsenal star Samir Nasri says Arsenal completely messed things up when the Gunners faced Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League semi-final.

Arsenal dispatched AC Milan and Villarreal in the last 16 and quarter-finals before falling to the Red Devils in the semi-finals.

United won the first leg at Old Trafford by one goal.

In the second leg at the Emirates, they completely destroyed Alex Ferguson’s former rivals.

Quick goals from Park Ji Sung and Cristiano Ronaldo gave United a 2-0 win. Ronaldo added a third before Robin van Persie grabbed a consolation goal for the north London club.

Finished 4-1 on aggregate.

“It was the first time I’d seen such a crazy atmosphere at the Emirates, you had flags everywhere and all the flags!” Nasri, a member of the Arsenal team that lost to United, told Zach Naniprod in the Daily Mail. “

You can feel like you’re going to have a great game when you go into a match with people who send shivers down your spine.

“And we are ourselves. We are ourselves, and we are up against the great Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nasri stayed at Arsenal for three years before moving to Manchester City.

Nasri won two Premier League titles with United’s noisy neighbours.

The Red Devils lost to Barcelona in the 2009 Champions League final. Samuel Eto’o opened the scoring in the tenth minute before Lionel Messi added a second on 20 minutes as Barcelona secured a historic treble at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.
