Legendary bassist John Regan, who played with Peter Frampton, David Bowie and Mick Jagger, died on Friday. He was 71.

His cause of death is currently unknown.

Frampton, along with a few other musicians, expressed their grief over Regan’s loss on social media.

“There can only be a handful of people who come into your world and truly enrich your life,” Frampton tweeted. “He really enriched my life because of the person he was and the great player he was. John Reagan was our best.”

“He went out of his way to help people when things weren’t right,” Frampton continued. “It doesn’t matter who you are, prince or pauper. I know many of you know him. He was everyone’s friend. He was always an inspiration in music and one of the funniest people on the planet.”

“My thoughts are with his wife Kathy, his children, Christopher and Janice, and his grandchildren,” Frampton said. “I love you brother, I will miss you so much, rest in peace.”
