Matthew McConaughey was not wearing a seat belt when his plane fell 4,000 feet: ‘My tray table stopped me’

He said: “My tray table stopped me, I wasn’t wearing my seat belt and there was no seat belt warning before it happened. I got there straight away, I made sure Camilla was wearing her seat belt.”

The actor revealed that he and Camilla held hands in anticipation of further violence before revealing that other passengers were panicking around them.

Speaking to Ripa, McConaughey went on to say that the drop itself was amazing, as everything in the plane was floating for a few seconds due to zero gravity.

He explained: “This is a broken denial. I mean, gravity is zero. Your red wine, your glass, and the plates your food was on are all suspended, floating, still in the air. And to see it this long. It wasn’t that long – one, two, three, four – and then everything comes crashing down.

The star of the “Dallas Buyers Club” revealed that the plane’s metal was “hacked”, and he was worried about whether the plane would take the damage. Thankfully, he was sitting with his pilot friend.

McConaughey said: “He was as calm as could be. I was like, ‘Can the plane handle this?’ That was a big relief.”

He added, “If something goes wrong, can you fly this thing?” I said. And he was like, ‘No problem.’ And I was like, ‘Great, I’d love to hear that.’
