Manchester United’s youngster Zidane Iqbal has made a big change of representation.
According to the Manchester Evening News, “Manchester United midfielder Zidane Iqbal has joined the agency that represents Erik ten Haag.”
“SEG International announced Iqbal, 19, as their new client on Monday morning. Iqbal was previously represented by CAA Base.
“Iqbal is understood to have been convinced to sign with SEG partly because of the strength of his relationship with United manager Ten Haag.”
This change in representation has been made by Iqbal as the winter transfer window approaches.
The 19-year-old was a star player for United during his team’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
However, his midfield sensation has endured a nightmare campaign that has seen his minutes drastically reduced. Iqbal is yet to play a single minute of competitive action under the Ten Hag this season.
Iqbal was keen to go out on loan but this never materialised, which may at least partially explain the change in agent.
The message from within the club is that the player still has a role to play as the season progresses – a scenario that is even more unlikely than the return of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
A change of agency could be a way to help the player secure a loan next season.
Keeping Iqbal without the guarantee of first team minutes will again be cruel. Many United teenagers have benefited greatly from their loans and are now thriving with their temporary employers.
Iqbal is highly talented and if given the opportunity, he can remind the fans of what he can do on the football field.
