Manchester United returned to winning ways with a hard-fought win over top-flight Brentford in the Premier League on Wednesday.
The win means the Red Devils are back in the Premier League’s top four and will look to strengthen their Champions League hopes by completing the league double against Everton on Saturday.
The victory over the bees cost him, however, as a left defender Luke Shaw was out injured in the first half.
Shaw’s injuries are not serious.
The England international was seen heading straight for the tunnel and there was a risk of a muscle injury that could keep him out for a long period of time.
The Times now say the injury is not serious and the full-back is not expected to be sidelined for long.
“The change was made as a precaution and after further tests it was understood that United staff did not consider the problem to be serious, so Shaw would not be sidelined for long.”
Tyrell Malasia is expected to line up for the Toffees if the Ten Hag decide to take the precautionary step of giving Shaw a rest.
Christian Eriksen was spotted in training on Thursday after injuring ankle ligaments in January’s FA Cup win over Reading.
Eriksen could return to Everton clash
And there is a chance that the United midfielder could be included in Saturday’s matchday squad.
“We’ll see,” Ten Haag told Viaplay in Denmark (via Yahoo UK). We see it day by day. It is progressing. He only returned to team practice this week. We have two sessions. After that, we will decide whether to return to the group again.
His passing and vision helped United dominate the game, something the Dane has been missing since the injury.
Casemiro is expected to return next week after his suspension, with United expected to be close to full strength before the end of the season.
