Florida teacher accused of organizing middle school fights: '30 seconds, no yelling, no yelling, no phones'

According to court documents obtained by the outlet, on March 24 a school resource deputy was told that students were allowed to fight in 23-year-old Angel Footman’s classroom.

In addition, the school administrators are said to have been shown a video showing the fights that allegedly took place on March 22 and March 23.

They also informed investigators that “several” sixth-grade girls were involved in “arranged fights during school hours.” Not only did Footman often invite his students to join the fight. But she also gave statements during the conflict.

According to the probable cause affidavit, after an investigator reviewed the footage, Footman was sitting at her desk during the fight. Furthermore, the 23-year-old failed to intervene and only issued statements such as “no noise, nothing” and “stop pulling hair”.

Footman was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. according to New York Post, has since been released. However, the 23-year-old faces “four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor”.

The pedestrian’s arraignment is scheduled for May 4.

Public Information Officer Chris Petley shared a statement on behalf of Leon County Schools, according to reports Tallahassee Reports.

“From the outside, you can see that his actions, or lack thereof, are not acceptable anywhere in the classroom in Leon County Schools.”
