Fabrizio Romano: Facundo Pelestri is on the verge of a new Man United contract.

Manchester United have informed Facudo Pelestri of their desire to extend his current contract to secure his future at Old Trafford.

Pellistri arrived at United from Penarol in 2020 but had to wait more than two years to make his debut for the Red Devils.

The Uruguayan is having a relatively productive campaign under Erik ten Haag and is now an established member of the squad.

Pelestri has made eight appearances for United in all competitions this season. Most of Pelestri’s accomplishments came at the expense of influence, where he impressed.

The 21-year-old has made one assist in eight appearances for United.

According to The People’s Person, Pelestri has been penciled in for a loan spell next season alongside Anthony Ilanga.

United appear to be interested in signing Pelestri, according to Cesar Luis Merlo.

“Next week there will be a meeting between Manchester United and Facundo Pelestri’s agent,” Merlo said.

The club has already informed him that it wants to renew his contract, which expires on 6/30/2025.

“The meeting will deal with financial matters and the duration of the new relationship.”

The fact that United have chosen to hold fresh talks with Pelestri shows how highly the player is valued by Ten Hag.

Ten Hag spoke of Pellistri and its great potential. Pelestri himself once said that he has complete faith in his coach and that this will make him hungry to succeed and win trophies.
