“I talked to Lamar while we were there [in Miami] And I know that’s a better conversation [Harbaugh and DeCosta] How you handle it, but the goal, you know, was to have the opportunity to come here and play with him and I’m excited about that opportunity.

When a reporter followed up to see if he had any guarantees, Beckham gave a surprisingly vague answer:

“[I] I’m not guaranteed anything, you know, life is uncertain. I think we don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, the next day, you know, we only know the past. So for me, my thought was that he was going to be here, you know, you know, I was really excited to know that these two could be here.

Asked how much playing with Lamar factored into the decision, Beckham said, “Oh, definitely, you know, obviously, you know, the elephant in the room.”

In a press conference, general manager Eric DeCosta commented on Jackson:

He is the right player for this team to lead us to where we want to go. I think the locker room knows the organization as well as the fans know that this is a continuum.

Beckham only gave a direct shout-out to Jackson at the press conference:

“Lamar, I know, if you’re watching… I’d love to work with you. I will talk to these people and hopefully, that will be done. When you think of the Ravens, I think you definitely think of Lamar. And I am very happy about this opportunity.

He knows as well as anyone that the business side of the NFL is ugly and he doesn’t want to be the one ruining the Ravens’ or Jackson’s money.
