Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers They are hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in California for the playoffs.
Veteran point guard Dennis Schroder was sidelined for the game with an ankle injury.
Via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints: “Dennis Schroder approached Lakers bench but not back in locker room yet”.
The game is now at halftime (Timberwolves lead 60-49) and there is no word from the team on whether Schroder will be able to return.
He finished the regular season averaging 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 66 games.
The 29-year-old was the starting point guard for the Lakers in the 2020-21 season, but played for the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets last season.
In the offseason, he returned to the Lakers as a free agent, and became one of the most important bench players.
The good news is he didn’t go to the locker room and sit on the bench.
Via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin: “Dennis Schroder appeared to swing his left leg and called for a sub. Austin Reaves returned for it. Schroder is being seen on the bench by the Lakers’ coaching staff.”
The Lakers finished the season as the seventh seed and had a 43-39 record.
They have gone 8-2 in their last ten games and are 23-18 in their 41-game homestand in Los Angeles, California.
Last year, the team went 33-49 and missed the playoffs (and the playoffs).
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are the eighth seed with a 42-40 record.
