Brighton are set to consider a 'big-money' bid for Manchester United on high alert for World Cup winner Alexis McAllister.

Manchester United await the arrival of Europa League specialists Sevilla for tonight’s quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are on an impressive debut campaign under new manager Erik ten Haag.

The 20-time English champions head into the match against the Spaniards after beating Brentford and Everton in the league and will be looking to build on that momentum in Europe.

United will be on the hunt for major reinforcements in the summer following their eventual relegation to one of the top two contenders.

A number of names have been linked with the club recently, including Brighton’s Alexis McAllister.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for the Seagulls this season, making 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring ten goals and providing two assists.

The Argentina international was instrumental in helping the national team win their third World Cup despite being the standout in a star-studded talent list.

McAllister’s 2-0 win over France earned him his starting spot and he provided the assist for Angel Di Maria’s second goal in an impressive performance.

The midfielder has regularly found himself linked with Europe’s elite following his exploits in Qatar.

Now, according to a new report by Football Insider, McAllister’s time at the Amex could be over, with Seagulls no. 10 this summer.

The former Boca Juniors man is under contract until 2025 and is currently unlikely to extend his contract.

United are among a number of top clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, who have been keeping a close eye on McAllister and are known to be fans of his style of play.

The lanky midfielder is one of Brighton’s highest earners on £50,000-a-week wages at Amex, which is unlikely to deter suitors, with the Argentine potentially doubling his wages. If the actual move materializes, it will triple.

Brighton must make a decision on his future without delay, and if there is no deal, the Argentinian looks set to leave the south coast in the summer, or Seagulls is likely to significantly reduce his market value.

United are set to target the midfielders in partnership with Casemiro, to provide better overall tactical balance, and McAllister could certainly work in that role for the Red Devils.

A versatile, mercurial talent, the World Cup winner could be a shrewd signing if United can agree a deal for him at the right price with Brighton.
