The First Lady, who is a big sports fan, watched LSU’s 102-85 Sunday’s victory over Iowa at the Dallas Arena with tennis great Billie Jean King and a host of college athletes.

Others commented on social media that only winners should be rewarded with a visit to the White House and that inviting Iowa would diminish LSU’s success. LSU’s team is mostly black, and Iowa’s is mostly white.
In an interview with ESPN on Tuesday, Iowa star Caitlin Clark said, “That’s for LSU,” when asked about the White House visit.
“I don’t think runners go to the White House very often,” Clark said. “You know, LSU should enjoy that moment for them, and congratulations, obviously.” They deserve to go there.”
Vanessa Valdivia, a spokeswoman for Jill Biden, said the first lady was excited to see the women’s game and that the White House was disrespectful to LSU by suggesting Iowa invite them.
“Her comments in Colorado were meant to honor the historic Games and all female athletes,” Valdivia tweeted Tuesday. “She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers’ championship win at the White House.”
In her speech in Colorado, the first lady talked about how American women have excelled in athletics.
“It was a lot of fun, wasn’t it?” She asked on Monday. “It was a great game. I’m old and I remember we had Title IX. We fought hard, didn’t we? We fought hard. And look where women’s sports have come today.”
