Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took some shots at Ravens QB Lamar Jackson on his podcast. Jackson is currently a free agent.
The Ben Roethlisberger vs. Lamar Jackson rivalry is when the latter is set, as those Steelers vs. Ravens battles will go down in NFL history. For most former players, there’s a level of mutual respect that goes into any rivalry, especially between quarterbacks.
Big Ben, who has had a lot to say about Jackson and his recent free agent negotiations, is clearly not that concerned.
“You’re not always afraid of Lamar’s authenticity. He’s got a big arm, he makes things happen when he scrambles, but you’re not afraid of him sitting in the pocket and picking you off. Roethlisberger said on the Futsbahlin podcast.. “Because you’re afraid of him running, you can take it down because he’s a different level runner. So you fear that, so you lower your security.
Did Ben Roethlisberger shoot Lamar Jackson?
It’s worth noting that Big Ben didn’t play with Lamar Jackson last season, and he’s taken another step forward with the package’s accuracy this season. And if you thought Roethlisberger was one to watch for the non-Steelers, you’d be wrong.
However, even Roethlisberger said the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. was a game changer.
“But now if you have[Beckham]out, you better put the safety back or if it’s one-on-one, you can just drop him,” Roethlisberger added. “It’s definitely going to create some opportunities for that offense and Lamar to get those big hits down the field if he has to run, or if they’re going to bring those safeties down if he needs to.”
Lamar hasn’t had a real weapon on the outside since the Ravens drafted Hollywood Brown, and even he pales in comparison to a fully healthy OBJ. This will change the game for Baltimore To convince Jackson to stay.
