Grocery chain Albertsons Company’s digital health and wellness platform announced a program that allows consumers to share data from their Apple Watches or iPhones to earn rewards points from Heart Health. Heart Health provides users with health-related resources and guidance for establishing goals for mental and general well-being. The platform offers an online pharmacy where customers can schedule vaccination appointments and manage pharmacy prescriptions. Through the integration, consumers with an Apple Watch Series 3 or higher can share their activity data with their Honest Health account and earn up to 75 points for closing their activity, fitness and portrait rings. iPhone users who close their Activity Ring can earn up to 25 points every day. In addition, shoppers can earn grocery coupons and discounts by setting one or more goals related to sleep, diet, exercise, and lifestyle. Users can manage their data and decide what information to share. “By integrating Apple Watch with the Honest Health platform, we’re making it easier for our customers to find value and receive incentives to meet their fitness goals,” said Omer Ghajyal, chief digital officer and EVP Health at The Albertsons Companies, in a statement. The biggest trend is that consumers have expressed concerns about privacy and wearable data. According to a study published in Lancet Digital Health in February, identifying data may not be enough to protect users’ privacy. Still, many companies are relying on wearables for monitoring and control. Consumer Health: UnitedHealthcare, a company that encourages users to track their data through wearables in order to receive rewards, launched the UnitedHealthcare Rewards in February. Through the program, eligible members are paid up to $1,000 a year to complete tasks tracked by the wearable. Glenn Tullman will provide more details in the HIMSS23 session, “Views from Above: Inherent Crisis or Inflection Point Opportunity? An Industry Maverick’s View.” Scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 3pm – 4pm CT in South Building, Level 1, Room S100 B.
